Eastview Lightning vs. Eden Prairie 11/16/2007 - Tyler Krebs
Eastview commits six turnovers in loss to conference rival
The Eden Prairie Eagles took advantage of five Eastview turnovers and rode their stellar defense to a 30-0 semi-final win and a berth in the state championship game.
A pair of first-quarter interceptions lead to Erik Soderberg field goals that gave Eden Prairie a 6-0 lead. Soderberg added another midway through the second quarter before Matt Swanson took it in from 11 yards out for a 16-0 halftime advantage.
The second half was more of the same as the Eagles defense simply would not allow Eastview to sustain a drive. Ben Hueper reeled in a 10-yard pass from Ryan Grant and Scott Lindner ran it in from the 1 to make the final margin 30-0.
Eden Prairie (13-0) wins for the 27th consecutive time and advances to the state final where they'll attempt to defend their state title against Cretin-Derham Hall (13-0). The Raiders were the last team to beat Eden Prairie, knocking off the Eagles during their state championship run of 2005. [Game Photos]
